Matt Geller is an experienced entertainment executive and feature film & television producer; with a background in development, domestic and international co-productions, packaging and sales. With a keen ability and deep understanding of how to navigate the challenging landscape of intellectual property (IP) development, combined with relationships within the upper echelons of the creative community; have established Matt as an operator in shaping top-tier film and television packages.

Previously, Geller was President of Josephson Entertainment, the production company behind “THE ENCHANTED” franchise for Disney, “DIRTY GRANDPA” for Lionsgate and the long-running series, “BONES” for Fox Broadcasting. Geller ran the day-to-day of the company for over half a decade, where he architected strategy and oversaw the robust Film and Television divisions. During his tenure, the company produced a landmark adaptation of a cult-classic “KISS OF THE SPIDER WOMAN” as a movie musical. The film was written and directed by Academy Award winner, Bill Condon. The film starred Jennifer Lopez opposite Diego Luna and Tonatiuh. The film is an official selection in the Sundance Film Festival. 

Prior to joining Josephson, Geller produced two acclaimed feature films back-to-back. “REMEMBER” starred Academy Award winners Christopher Plummer and Martin Landau, directed by two-time Academy Award nominated director Atom Egoyan. The film had its premiere at the Toronto Film Festival and was in competition at the Venice Film Festival. It was distributed theatrically by A24. The second film was a Chet Baker biopic, “BORN TO BE BLUE.” It starred Academy Award nominee Ethan Hawke. The film premiered at the Toronto Film Festival as a specialty selection.

In television, Geller served as Co-Executive Producer on a half-hour comedy “FOUR IN THE MORNING,” created by Ira Parker (“G.O.T – A KNIGHT OF THE SEVEN KINGDOMS”). Ordered straight to series by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC), the show explored a romanticized look at life in your 20s, following a group of friends on their adventures at 4 in the morning. A television series, “DEPARTURE,” further expanded Geller’s footprint in the television marketplace. The show also reunited him with actor, Christopher Plummer. The series just concluded production of the 3rd season and was acquired for distribution in the US by Peacock/NBC. 

Previously, Geller was Co-Head of Programming and part of the original team that launched Raze, a media company co-founded by Sofia Vergara and Luis Balaguer. The venture was funded by Greycroft Partners and The Raine Group. He oversaw all scripted development, and production of short-form and long-form, live-action and animation content. During Geller’s tenure, he spearheaded the initiative to build a slate deal with Pantelion Films/Lionsgate for genre films, with production out of the Dominican Republic. Geller was instrumental in launching the “365 DAYS OF LOVE” – Daily Docu-Series for Facebook Watch.

Prior, Geller ran Six Point Films, a production company owned by Branko Lustig who received Academy Awards for producing “SCHINDLER’S LIST” and “GLADIATOR.” During his tenure, the company put together a US/Chinese co-production, “LEAVING SHANGHAI,” based on a true story about a Jewish family who escaped The Third Reich by immigrating to China. The company also produced a reformat of Israeli series, “PINI.”

Geller also oversaw the director-driven production company, Wonderfalls Entertainment, spearheaded by Kristin Hanggi, who was nominated for a Tony Award for creating the musical “ROCK OF AGES.” During his tenure, Hanggi directed the films “NAOMI & ELY’S NO KISS LIST,” “DEAR DUMB DIARY;” and “SURF - A Beach Boys Musical”, at Planet Hollywood.

Geller held a senior creative position at Lightworks Pictures, specializing in producing branded franchises of Christian Booksellers Association (CBA) novels with partner Sony AFFIRM. Besides various Movies of the Week, he also oversaw the production of a reality series, “AMERICAN BIBLE CHALLENGE” for the Game Show Network and the documentary “SERVING LIFE,” narrated by Forrest Whitaker. The film was purchased by Oprah Winfrey’s OWN and subsequently won the Humanitas Award.

Geller was a distribution executive at Focus Features, where he worked on distribution campaigns for such films as “HOT FUZZ,” “EASTERN PROMISES,” “LUST, CAUTION,” “RESERVATION ROAD,” and “ATONEMENT” (BAFTA Award).

Prior to Focus Features, Geller was a development executive at DLT Entertainment, working on BBC1’s comedy MY FAMILY, the reunion specials of the hit comedy “AS TIME GOES BY,” starring Dame Judi Dench, a Russian version of “THREE’S COMPANY” for REN TV, and US distribution of the Australian soap opera “NEIGHBOURS” on Oxygen Media.

Geller is a member of the Producers Guild of America (PGA) and The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. He currently resides in Los Angeles, CA with his wife and two children.
